Flavored Ice Teas
Serves 8
2 qt. water
3 tea bags
Flavorings (see list below)
Instead of buying bottled or canned flavored iced teas, make your own
for a fraction of the cost. Any flavor tea can be made from a base
of iced tea.
To make the base, boil the water and remove from the heat. Pour the
water over the tea bags and let them sit for 5 minutes. Do not use
an aluminum container for brewing tea, as the tea will take on a bad
flavor.
For the flavorings, add any of the following to 2 quarts of brewed tea, and then chill after mixing.
LEMON ICED TEA: 3/4 c. sugar and 1/3 c. lemon juice
ORANGE ICED TEA: 3/4 c. sugar, 1/3 c. lemon juice and 1/8 t. orange extract
STRAWBERRY ICED TEA: 3/4 c. sugar, 1/3 c. lemon juice and 1 Tbsp. strawberry extract
CRANBERRY ICED TEA: 3/4 c. sugar, 1/3 c. lemon juice and 2 Tbsp. cranberry juice cocktail concentrate
MANGO ICED TEA: 1 c. mango juice
GINGER-PINEAPPLE ICED TEA: 2 Tbsp. freshly grated ginger root and 1 1/2 c. pineapple juice
